Earthquake in a memory

Houses destroyed by the earthquake

Injured people

Uder tent plying baby afer earthquake

Saturday was a day off. After cleaning and eating, I entered the office about 5 minutes to send a mail. At around 11:58 on the 12th of Baishakh, 2072 BS, I was sitting in a chair, it felt like something was shaking, suddenly a loud noise came from outside and I ran out. When I ran out of the office room, I saw all the people running around crying and shouting that there was an earthquake. I also went to an open space outside the office to save my life. When I reached the open space, all the big buildings and houses had collapsed. People around were shouting for help but the tremors had not stopped yet and there was no way to rescue them. Telephone, electricity and internet services were all cut off and communication was not possible. I tried hard to call home but could not get in touch as the communication service was down. I was thinking that the same thing happened to the house. The tremors started to stop and we hurried towards the rescue. The houses were all destroyed and people were trapped. Our team rushed to rescue the buried people as soon as possible with the help we had. We split the group and started the rescue as soon as possible. You rushed to the house to search for the people who were buried in the house. There was no ambulance service as the roads were completely closed due to landslides. We worked hard all day that day. On the second day also, like the first day, we worked hard in the morning. As the rescue operation was over at our place of residence, we went to various other places in our district for rescue. As all the roads were closed, we reached various places on foot and rescue them. We used to feel hungry when we worked in rescue all day, but since there was no place to eat, we had water, noodles and biscuits with us to satisfy our hunger. Again we would start the rescue. Dead people would be found in disarray and weeping at the sight of corpses. Elsewhere, we would talk to our friends at the rescue, telling them that only human hands, heads, and legs had been found, and cursing God for what Ken had done. Some have no parents, some have no children, some have lost all their relatives, Seeing this situation, we also hid the pain of the heart and sympathized with those who lost their relatives. There was no telling how many people died or how many were injured. The hospital was full of injured people and on one side was full of dead bodies. The injured could not be treated here and were airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Rescue operations continued. As the rainy season started after half a month, another problem was added. The house collapsed, making it very difficult to live during the rainy season. Under the tent that came with the help of the Government of Nepal and the international community, you cut the rain of that year. Sometimes it used to happen that I used to sleep in the open field with a ditch, so when it rained a lot, I used to get used to it from under the ditch. Similarly, at the end of the month of July, we walked for about two days from the district headquarters to Langtang to search for the missing citizen. The next day we reached Langtang after staying on the middle road as the awkward road was very far. Seeing such awkward scenes on the way, it was probably beyond imagination. As it was a very difficult place and people could not go for rescue in time, the corpses of dead people, pets, skeletons and pots were scattered on the road. The purpose of our visit was to search for a person who had been buried by an avalanche after the earthquake. But because of the snow, it was not possible to find the body, and after a 10-day stay, we returned to Rasuwa. As Rasuwa is a tourist destination, hundreds of foreigners came to visit. There was no accounting of how many died and how many were lost. Many wise and rescue workers had come from abroad to search for their missing citizens. According to our records, more than 600 people died in our area. There was no record of injured or missing people. Probably the most painful and traumatic event in my life, where hundreds of people had died right before my eyes.So when we build buildings and houses, we need to make them earthquake resistant so that we can be safe.

 The rest is ...
